Testing Services
As part of EEI's Staffing Services screening process, we test all applicants in their primary skill areas to assess their knowledge and skill level. When you receive candidates for employment from EEI, you are assured that they have the skills and expertise reflected on their resumes.
But what if you want to find your own applicants, but you don't want to go through the trouble of developing and administering tests to evaluate their skills? Or, you may have existing employees that you need to test on specific skill areas following a training program or before a job promotion.
EEI testing services has a solution for you. We can administer and evaluate skills tests in a number of different subject areas for a single employee or applicant, or for an entire group of your employees. Tests are proctored by an EEI testing specialist and can be administered at any of our two locations in Alexandria and Silver Spring. Completed tests are evaluated by a subject matter expert in the chosen skill area, so even the hardest-to-measure skills are evaluated.
Performance-based skills testing
All of our custom-designed tests are performance-based. This means that they require the examinee to perform hands-on exercises that are based on actual work that the employee may perform on the job.
When compared to traditional "book" testing methods such as multiple choice, true/false, and fill-in-the-blank, performance-based tests are a much more accurate sampling of how the employee will react to real-life scenarios that they will encounter while working for your company. You find out what the employee can actually do (and how fast they can do it), not just what they know in theory.
All of our tests are custom-designed by subject matter experts in the chosen skill area. For example, a test measuring PhotoShop expertise is developed by an expert user of PhotoShop. So the test measures the skills that are critical for doing the job, not simply theoretical concepts straight out of a textbook.
How is the test administered?
Most of our tests last between two and four hours and are administered onsite at one of our three testing locations. Some tests require a computer (e.g., for software application testing), whereas others may be primarily pen-and-paper tests (e.g., for proofreading or copyediting tests).
All tests are proctored by an EEI testing services specialist, who is available during the test if the examinee has any questions regarding the format of the test. Tests for certain subject areas can be graded on-the-spot for immediate scoring, whereas exams for other subject areas may take up to two business days to evaluate and score.
In certain cases, we can arrange for pen-and-paper tests to be administered to a large group onsite at your company. Because of technical constraints, however, computer exams must be administered onsite at EEI.
